In the first seven months of 2026, Phan Chau Trinh University (PCTU) welcomed nearly 100 international students for clinical internships ranging from two weeks to six months. Notably, according to many of the students, their first decision was to choose Vietnam as their academic destination, before searching for a suitable institution and ultimately selecting PCTU in Da Nang.

The students came from a wide range of countries, including the United States, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Japan, Poland, Australia, New Zealand, Slovakia, and China. Many shared that Vietnam attracted them because of its diverse range of medical conditions, opportunities for hands-on clinical exposure in a rapidly developing healthcare system, and clinical experiences that differ from those available in their home countries.
In particular, region-specific conditions such as dengue fever, tropical infectious diseases, and many clinical cases commonly encountered in Vietnam provide valuable learning experiences that are difficult for many students to access in their own healthcare systems.
After deciding to come to Vietnam, the students began searching for suitable clinical placement opportunities. According to the university, many of them discovered PCTU through its official website and online channels. Prompt communication, transparent information, and a clear application process were among the key factors that inspired their confidence.
Other students learned about PCTU through recommendations from peers who had previously completed clinical internships at the university. Positive experiences regarding the learning environment, strong institutional support, and opportunities for clinical practice have helped strengthen PCTU's reputation within the international medical student community.
One of PCTU's advantages in Da Nang is its network of teaching hospitals, which enables international students to observe and learn across a variety of medical specialties. In addition, the ability of physicians and healthcare staff to communicate in English within the clinical setting meets the requirements of many international internship programs.

As medical education becomes increasingly globalized, the fact that international students first choose Vietnam and then select PCTU in Da Nang reflects the growing appeal of a medical education model that integrates clinical practice with academic training, while also highlighting the expanding international connections of Vietnam's medical education sector.
