300 Vietnamese K26 freshmen at the Opening Ceremony of Orientation Week 2026.

On the afternoon of August 24, 2026, 300 Vietnamese freshmen from 7 academic programs, including Medicine, Dentistry, General Nursing, Dental Nursing, Medical Laboratory Technology, Psychology (Clinical and Counseling Psychology), and Hospital Administration, officially arrived at Phan Chau Trinh University to attend the Opening Ceremony of Orientation Week 2026. After years of dedicated study in high school and days of considering their choice of major, university, and future path, this afternoon they arrived with a very different mindset: no longer high school students standing at the threshold of university, but officially PCTU freshmen, ready to embark on the path they have chosen.

Orientation Week 2026 marks the first days for K26 students to become familiar with their lecturers, classmates, university learning methods, and prepare themselves before the new academic year officially begins.

In the formal atmosphere of the ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Huu Tung – Chairman of the University Council shared a heartfelt message with the freshmen:

I hope that at Phan Chau Trinh University, no student will ever hesitate to ask a question simply out of fear of being judged by others. You are now part of the Phan Chau Trinh University community. The University will provide you with a team of lecturers, achievements in science and technology, and the resources necessary for your learning and development. However, he emphasized that the future ultimately remains in each person’s own hands: the University can open the door, lecturers can show you the way and provide knowledge, but you are the ones who must take each step yourselves.” He expressed the hope that many years from now, when looking back on this day, the students will remember it as the moment that opened a major chapter in their lives, filled with curiosity, courage, and a compassionate heart.

Continuing the program, Prof. Dr. Le Van Cuong – Rector of the University shared his thoughts on the responsibilities that come with choosing to pursue the health sciences.

These are professions that are highly respected by society, but they also require learners to remain persistent, make continuous efforts, and constantly enrich their knowledge throughout their professional careers. The University will gradually create opportunities for students to access international training standards, with the goal of educating healthcare professionals who possess strong expertise, compassion, and vision, and who are capable of serving patients in Vietnam while adapting to international professional environments.

Also during the program, Specialist Level II Dr. Le Xuan Tuy – Director of Phan Chau Trinh University Hospital, one of the University’s 9 teaching hospitals, shared insights into the role of hospitals in medical education.

By integrating clinical practice, healthcare, and scientific research, the hospital will serve as a “second learning space” where students have the opportunity to observe and absorb lessons that textbooks cannot fully convey, from how to listen and communicate to how to interact with patients. He wished the freshmen to always maintain a spirit of service, a desire to learn, and a passion for their chosen profession.

Bringing a more personal and relatable touch to the ceremony was a sharing session by Hoang Thi Tuyet Suong – a freshman in General Nursing. Having moved from Nghe An to Da Nang for her studies, Suong humorously shared that

she brought with her “one suitcase, a Nghe An accent, and a whole lot of questions in her head”. After stressful days preparing for the high school graduation exam and deciding on her future, Suong happened to learn about PCTU through a Facebook post. What began as curiosity led her to explore more about Nursing and the university she would attend, gradually helping her realize that this choice aligned increasingly clearly with her desire to care for and accompany patients. For Suong, the next four years will not only be a time to accumulate knowledge and clinical skills, but also a journey of developing professional attitudes and compassion. And today is the “first stroke of the pen” on a new page of a book called university youth.

Following the messages from lecturers and freshmen, the program continued with an interactive discussion and live Q&A session. Students confidently asked questions and shared their initial concerns in a warm and open atmosphere – reflecting exactly the spirit that Orientation Week seeks to inspire: having the courage to ask, the willingness to explore, and taking an active role in one’s own learning. K26 has now experienced its very first hours as university students, and ahead lie many new experiences, challenges, and discoveries waiting to unfold. Welcome K26 – your first days at PCTU have officially begun.
