Da Nang – In recent months, Phan Chau Trinh University (PCTU) has continuously welcomed groups of international students for clinical internships, bringing a vibrant and multicultural atmosphere to its classrooms and teaching hospitals. From Belgium, the UK, and Poland to France, each journey tells a story of global academic connection, further affirming PCTU’s position on the international medical education map.
In July 2025, Rane Van Keer – a medical student from Ghent University (Belgium) – arrived in Da Nang and became the first international student to undertake a clinical internship at PCTU through the SCOPE exchange program. Just a few days later, Zuzanna Gorska from Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University (Poland) joined, further extending the list of European students choosing PCTU for a four-week clinical internship.
I never thought I would have the opportunity to wear a white coat and directly take part in patient care at a hospital in Vietnam. This experience has truly changed my perspective on the medical profession.” – Rane Van Keer, Ghent University (Belgium).

Not stopping there, in August and September, PCTU continued to welcome more students from Poland and Japan. Notably, in October, two nursing students from Saint-Brieuc IFSI (France) proactively chose PCTU—not through an exchange program, but because they were impressed by the university’s training philosophy: “In healthcare, the patient is at the center; in education, the student is at the center.”
At PCTU, international students are immersed in a true medical environment with nine teaching hospitals across the country. From Traditional Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pediatrics to Emergency Care—every shift and every patient encounter brings new challenges and valuable experiences.
“At PCTU, we are not only learning the medical profession, but also how to listen, empathize, and recognize the humanistic role of nursing in patient care.” – Karolina Babik and Julia Krawczyk, medical students from Poland

After classes, international students also explore local life: from Hoi An Ancient Town and Dragon Bridge to My Khe Beach. A “miniature Da Nang inside the classroom” has emerged, where English, French, and Vietnamese blend together in a vibrant multicultural atmosphere.
My Khe Beach – one of the most beautiful beaches on the planet, where international students find moments of relaxation after their clinical internships.
Golden Bridge – an architectural masterpiece in the clouds and a world-renowned check-in spot in Da Nang.
Da Nang at night sparkles with lights—vibrant yet peaceful, a “livable city” in the eyes of international friends.
A modern symbol of Da Nang – Dragon Bridge dazzles with its unique fire and water shows every weekend.
Hoi An – a UNESCO World Heritage site, where lantern lights, a slower pace of life, and cultural fusion leave unforgettable impressions on international students.
Phan Chau Trinh University Campus – a modern, globally connected academic environment that bridges classrooms, research institutes, and teaching hospitals.
PCTU is not only a destination for international students but also a gateway for Vietnamese students to reach the world. From the 2024 International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA) General Assembly in Finland, PCTU signed multiple exchange agreements with universities in Germany, Italy, Poland, and Denmark—opening opportunities for its students to experience advanced medical environments abroad.
At the same time, PCTU has continuously expanded its gateway to the world for Vietnamese students. Since the World Medical Students’ Conference in Finland in 2024, PCTU has signed several cooperation agreements with universities in Germany, Italy, and Poland – creating opportunities for students to gain experience, learn, and demonstrate their capabilities in an international medical environment.
From there, a two-way academic exchange has officially been established: while international students come to PCTU for internships, PCTU students also have the opportunity to explore some of the world’s most advanced medical systems.
Among them, Duyen stands out as one of the pioneers. After months of preparation, she completed her application with the SCOPE – IFMSA Vietnam Coordination Committee, successfully passed the selection process, and received an acceptance letter from TUM University Hospital in Germany. Duyen had an incredible internship experience there, lasting from July 1 to July 31, 2025.
In just the first half of 2025, nearly 20 international students have chosen PCTU as their destination. This number not only reflects the appeal of a young university in Da Nang but also affirms that PCTU is emerging as a new stop on the journey of global medical integration.
From Da Nang – Vietnam’s most livable city – PCTU continues its mission: to connect knowledge, nurture future healthcare professionals, and expand the bridge between East and West in medical education.
