Medical Student Residency Examination – An Exclusive Opportunity for PCTU Medical Students

Nearly 20 medical students from the 2021–2027 cohort officially began the 4th Medical Student Residency Examination at Phan Chau Trinh University on August 5, 2026.

The examination is designed to select outstanding students who demonstrate a solid foundation of knowledge, well-rounded skills, and a strong professional attitude for admission to the Medical Student Residency Program. Successful candidates will receive scholarships covering 30% to 60% of their final-year tuition fees. They will also participate in full-time hospital duty rotations and benefit from the hospitals’ preferential policies.

Leveraging its own network of hospitals, the University launched this program in 2023 to provide final-year students with early exposure to a residency-style clinical environment. Regular presence in the hospital enables students to sharpen their observational skills, strengthen clinical reasoning, adapt to the pace of real-world medical practice, and develop the professional conduct expected of future doctors.

To date, the program has become an exclusive opportunity for medical students at Phan Chau Trinh University. It is one of several advantages available to students throughout their studies at PCTU:

Studying in a specialized health sciences ecosystem

Clinical exposure from the first year

Students become familiar with the hospital environment early through observation, communication, history-taking, and the development of appropriate professional conduct toward patients. In subsequent years, they undertake clinical rotations and practical training at multiple hospitals within and beyond the University’s healthcare network.

Developing skills in a simulation-based environment

Before encountering real clinical situations, students practice repeatedly using medical models and simulated scenarios. This process helps strengthen their technical skills, teamwork, and professional confidence.
