For the third consecutive year, students from Japan’s national University join PCTU for internships

On September 14, Phan Chau Trinh University (PCTU) organized an orientation session for two Health Sciences students from Gunma University (Japan) before they began their internship program at Tam Tri Da Nang Hospital.
 

During their time in Vietnam, the students will undertake internships at the International Clinic, Eye Clinic, Emergency Department, and Ultrasound Department, giving them opportunities to observe professional practices, patient care procedures, and how healthcare professionals coordinate their work in real-world settings.

Gunma University is a national university in Japan with a long history of education and research, with strong academic areas including medicine, health sciences, and medical laboratory sciences. In recent years, student exchange activities between Gunma University and PCTU have also expanded into various academic fields.

Before welcoming this year's students, PCTU hosted Nursing students from Gunma University for an internship in September 2024, followed by graduate students in Medical Laboratory Sciences in September 2025. The return of Gunma University students in 2026 demonstrates that academic and practical exchanges between the two institutions are being continuously maintained and gradually expanded.

One notable advantage for the Japanese students is that Tam Tri Da Nang Hospital has staff who can communicate in both English and Japanese, making it easier for them to communicate, learn about the working environment, and engage in professional activities. This provides practical support for the students as they adapt to their new internship environment.

Beyond professional training, the program also offers a valuable multicultural learning experience. The Gunma University students have the opportunity to observe differences between healthcare environments in Vietnam and Japan while developing their adaptability, communication skills, and ability to work in an international context.

The Gunma University students hope to broaden their understanding of different cultures, enhance their adaptability, and gain deeper insight into the role of interdisciplinary collaboration in healthcare.
