On the morning of July 29, 2025,Phan Chau Trinh University of Medicine officially launched the training course "Assessment of Theoretical Knowledge Based on Competency-Based Medical Education in Health Science Programs", with the participation of over 300 lecturers and clinical instructors (CIs). The course takes place over four days, from July 29 to August 1, 2025, in a blended format combining both in-person and online learning.
The course is jointly organized by the Institute–Phan Chau Trinh University of Medicine and the Center for Medical Education – University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City. The program focuses on key techniques in learner assessment, including constructing test blueprints, developing multiple-choice questions (MCQs) aligned with Bloom’s taxonomy, setting learning outcomes for assessment tools, and updating modern assessment trends in medical education. In addition to theoretical updates, participants engage in hands-on practice, peer review, and direct editing to enhance their competence in designing high-quality exams.
The course is one of the key initiatives aimed at realizing the university’s goal of developing its faculty workforce—not only by expanding in numbers but also by enhancing professional expertise and teaching methodologies. Since the 2024–2025 academic year, the Institute–University has continuously implemented various faculty development programs to meet the demands of innovation in medical education and outcome-based training in health science disciplines.
