PCTU NEWS – On the afternoon of January 24, 2026, in a quiet and deeply emotional atmosphere, Phan Chau Trinh University (PCTU) solemnly held the Macchabée Ceremony under the theme “The Flame Bearers of the Medical Profession.” This occasion allowed PCTU students to express their profound gratitude to the “Silent Teachers”—those who donated their bodies to the cause of education and the advancement of medical science.

The atmosphere of the 2026 Macchabée Ceremony
Joining the reflective atmosphere of the ceremony was the presence of faculty members, physicians, and the entire student body. Notably, the attendance of the families of the body donors created a sacred and moving imprint. Their presence was an honor for PCTU.
Opening the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Le Van Cuong, MD – President of the University, delivered a profound speech on medical ethics
Throughout the journey of training a physician, medical ethics remains the core foundation. We must always uphold a deep sense of responsibility, gratitude, and respect for the profound humanistic values that body donors have bestowed upon our nation’s medical education and healthcare.

In response to this sentiment, Ms. Phuong Lan, a representative of the donors’ families, shared sincere and heartfelt reflections:

From the day my child came to PCTU, M.C. seemed to be born a second time. It was a new journey where my child could continue to work, contribute, and remain with life in a very different way. Though no longer present in a familiar physical form, my child lives on in every lesson, every generation of students, and in the hands of future physicians growing from this very place
In an emotional moment, student Nguyen Phuoc Phuong Anh (Class 25YK1) expressed deep gratitude to the Silent Teachers:
If organ donation brings life, then body donation lays the foundation for future generations of physicians. Even when the teacher’s heart no longer beats, love remains, like a quiet flame illuminating our path in medicine. Before such noble sacrifices, we promise to study with both mind and heart, cherishing every value entrusted to us.

Continuing this emotional thread, the ceremony proceeded with the sacred torch procession and floral tribute. The flame lit from such noble devotion was passed on, continuing to illuminate the path of medical ethics and instilling responsibility and gratitude in every PCTU student.

After the solemn rites, the contemplative atmosphere gradually deepened through art—not merely as performance, but as an extension of gratitude through the language of emotion. Gentle melodies rose like whispers of time; slow, graceful movements echoed the lingering heartbeat of devoted lives. Student-led performances humanely retold moving stories, filling the entire space with gratitude.

As the Macchabée Ceremony under the theme “The Flame Bearers of the Medical Profession” came to a close, what remained was not only the deeply moving acts of remembrance, but also a flame born of gratitude and silent sacrifice. That flame will accompany each student on their journey of learning and professional growth.
