When love blooms from small meals

On the morning of September 21, 2025, in the communal kitchen of Da Nang Oncology Hospital, more than 400 bowls of porridge filled with love were cooked and handed directly to patients during the 3rd charitable program “Cook Together – Care Together – Share Together”, organized by the Nuclear Volunteer Club of Phan Chau Trinh University.

The night before, members of the club and freshmen of the K25 cohort gathered to wash, peel, and prepare pumpkins, carrots, scallions, cilantro, and beef sausage. Laughter mixed with the hustle and bustle made the small kitchen even warmer and more lively.

At dawn, the students arrived at Da Nang Oncology Hospital. In the collective kitchen, the fire gradually glowed red, releasing warmth into the air. Every hand, every smile, and every story carried love into the steaming bowls of porridge. In just over an hour, nearly 400 delicious and nutritious servings were ready.

As the morning light spread, the students pushed carts of porridge across all nine floors of the hospital. Along the corridors, each hot bowl was handed to patients with a smile and heartfelt wishes for good health. Many were deeply touched, expressing gratitude, as the simple meal not only eased their hunger but also soothed part of the pain and fatigue along their treatment journey.

The “Cook Together – Care Together – Share Together” program has become a beautiful tradition of Phan Chau Trinh University students, spreading compassion while bringing renewed strength to patients bravely battling illness every day.

Beyond sharing, the activity also fostered bonds across generations of students. Senior members enthusiastically guided and passed on the flame of kindness to the new freshmen just entering university life. This was an opportunity for them to better understand the core value of medicine: “to save lives with expertise, to heal with humanity.”
