On the morning of June 15, Phan Chau Trinh University (PCTU) welcomed two fourth-year medical students, Taylor Lloyd and Emilia Miller, from the University of Manchester (United Kingdom), who have joined a four-week clinical internship program at Phan Chau Trinh University Medical Center Hospital.

This marks the second time that medical students from the University of Manchester have chosen PCTU as their destination for clinical training. Previously, in 2022, the University welcomed the first two University of Manchester students to undertake clinical internships in Vietnam. Their return this year demonstrates that the academic partnership between the two institutions continues to be maintained and strengthened.
According to Emilia Miller, she learned about PCTU through positive feedback from students who had previously completed internships at the University. What impressed her most was PCTU’s “Institute–University” model, where education, research, and patient care are integrated within a single campus. This allows students to conveniently access learning opportunities, interact with patients, and gain a comprehensive understanding of healthcare delivery.
The University of Manchester is one of the United Kingdom’s leading universities, renowned for its strengths in medical education, health sciences, and research. The continued choice of PCTU by its students as a clinical training destination reflects the growing recognition of PCTU’s medical education environment within the international academic community.
During their four-week internship at PCTU, Taylor Lloyd and Emilia Miller will observe and learn about clinical activities at the hospital under the guidance of Clinical Instructors (CIs). It is hoped that this experience will provide them with valuable professional insights, exposure to a wide range of medical conditions, and a deeper understanding of medical education and the healthcare system in Vietnam.
Also in June, PCTU will welcome six students from Bond University (Australia), further affirming the attractiveness of its Institute–University medical education model to the international student community.
