PCTU Discusses AI Applications in Healthcare with AITRICS

On August 15, Phan Chau Trinh University (PCTU) held a meeting and discussion with AITRICS – a South Korean healthcare technology company – focusing on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare and medical education.

During the discussion, Dr. Kim Kwang Joon – Professor at Yonsei University and CEO of AITRICS (South Korea), and Mr. Michael Chong – Director of AITRICS Vietnam, joined PCTU in sharing perspectives on the development of AI in healthcare, as well as the opportunities and challenges of integrating this technology into the medical environment.

AITRICS is a company focused on developing AI Healthcare solutions, aiming to apply artificial intelligence and healthcare data to improve patient care. One of AITRICS' notable products is VitalCare, an AI platform that supports patient data analysis and identifies the risk of clinical deterioration, thereby assisting healthcare professionals in monitoring and caring for patients.

The two sides discussed the application of AI in hospital operations, healthcare data, and electronic medical records in Vietnam, as well as ways to connect universities, hospitals, and technology companies to bring AI solutions into practice.

During the meeting, representatives from PCTU's Deep Medicine Unit (DMU) introduced the University's ongoing research and implementation directions for AI applications, including the Phan Chau Trinh Smart Medical (PSM) ecosystem – an initiative aimed at connecting technology, data, education, and healthcare activities within the University–Hospital ecosystem.

One topic discussed in depth was AI in medical education. As students can access vast amounts of information with just a single question, the challenge is no longer simply “whether to use AI,” but rather how to use AI to enhance learning capabilities while maintaining independent thinking and clinical competence.

At PCTU, AI is gradually being integrated into education, research, and hospital activities, with the direction that AI serves as a supporting tool for lecturers and students, while clinical practice and real patients remain at the center.

The meeting with AITRICS provided an opportunity for PCTU to share its ongoing development directions while gaining further international perspectives and experience in AI Healthcare. Such professional exchanges contribute to the University's continued efforts to advance its vision for smart healthcare and medical education in the era of AI.
