Exploring clinical placement opportunities in Australia with Bond University for PCTU medical students

On August 26, Phan Chau Trinh University (PCTU) continued its professional activities and collaboration discussions with the delegation from Bond University (Australia), concluding the three-day working program at PCTU.
 

During the day, a professional seminar was held focusing on trends and approaches in modern medical education. In particular, Associate Professor Rhea Liang – Director of the MD Program at Bond University – delivered two presentations on clinical curriculum design and teaching decision-making competencies in clinical settings.

Dr. Belinda Lowe – Associate Professor, Co-Lead of Women's Health, and Director of the Simulation Centre – also shared professional insights into simulation-based clinical training in hospital settings and the Mental Rehearsal method for learning and practicing procedural skills.

The presentations not only provided insights and experience from Bond University but also created an opportunity for PCTU faculty members and experts to exchange ideas on applying modern educational approaches to medical education and clinical practice.

Also on August 26, representatives from the PCTU Office of Academic Affairs, the Board of Scientific Research, Technology and Clinical Affairs, and the International Cooperation Office held a working session with A/Prof. Cindy Jones – Co-Head of the Bachelor of Medical Science Program and International Partnerships Lead at Bond University.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged and discussed a range of important areas of cooperation, including the development of clinical placement programs for Bond University's Doctor of Medicine (MD) students at Tam Tri Da Nang General Hospital and Phan Chau Trinh University Hospital.

In addition, the parties discussed opportunities for PCTU medical students at Bond University, collaborative initiatives in simulation-based education, professional and academic development activities, and directions for implementing cooperation programs in 2027.

Previously, during their working days at PCTU, the Bond University delegation directly surveyed the clinical practice environment, worked with clinical instructors in Pediatrics, Surgery, and Obstetrics and Gynecology, and explored the potential for developing PCTU's clinical placement programs into Core Clinical Placements in the future.
