PCTU collaborates with Mayo clinic experts – One of the world's leading healthcare systems

A highlight of the visit was PCTU's academic engagement with Mayo Clinic, one of the world's leading healthcare systems. Founded in 1889 in the United States, Mayo Clinic is renowned for its integrated model of patient care, education, and research, where healthcare delivery, medical education, and scientific research are carried out within a unified ecosystem.

This model has enabled Mayo Clinic to become one of the world's leading centers for clinical research, epidemiology, biomedical data science, and medical innovation. The institution has also been consistently ranked among the best hospitals in the United States by U.S. News & World Report.

During the meeting, PCTU representatives introduced the University's integrated ecosystem of education, clinical practice, and research. Both sides also discussed PCTU's current research activities and explored opportunities for collaboration in clinical research and the development of medical research capacity.

As part of the visit, Dr. Laura M. Pacheco-Spann toured the University Museum, Medical Library, Preclinical Simulation Hospital, Center for Biomedical Research and Application, and the clinical departments of Phan Chau Trinh University Hospital.

The visit highlighted the shared vision of Mayo Clinic and PCTU in developing an integrated model that combines patient care, education, and research. PCTU is currently building an ecosystem consisting of a university, a teaching hospital, and a center for biomedical research and application, creating strong connections between education, clinical practice, and scientific research. This serves as an important foundation for fostering a modern medical academic environment and advancing international integration.

In the coming days, Dr. Laura M. Pacheco-Spann will conduct a series of professional seminars on clinical trial operations, strategies for participant recruitment and retention, and practical experiences from Mayo Clinic in implementing high-quality clinical research.

Welcoming an expert from Mayo Clinic not only strengthens international academic exchange but also marks another step in PCTU's strategy to expand collaboration with leading medical institutions worldwide, with the goal of enhancing clinical research capacity and adopting advanced standards in medical education and research.
