This summer, instead of staying at their familiar teaching hospitals in the United Kingdom, six fourth-year medical students from the University of East Anglia and Hull York Medical School have chosen Vietnam as the destination for their clinical placement.

Over the next four weeks, under the coordination of the University, the students will undertake clinical placements at Tam Tri Da Nang General Hospital, rotating through the Departments of Internal Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Emergency Medicine to experience Vietnam’s healthcare system and clinical learning environment.
Before beginning their first clinical rotations, the group spent time exploring PCTU’s medical education system. From Phan Chau Trinh University Medical Hospital to the Simulation Hospital, every facility offered them a new perspective on practice-oriented medical education.
Haley Brown, a student from the University of East Anglia, was impressed by the clean and modern facilities of Phan Chau Trinh University Medical Hospital, the friendliness of everyone she met, and especially the state-of-the-art Simulation Hospital, which provides abundant opportunities for hands-on learning.
William Hemingway, also from the University of East Anglia, highly appreciated the University's integrated education model that closely connects academic learning with hospital-based training, enabling students to quickly apply theoretical knowledge in clinical practice.
Rees John, another student from the University of East Anglia, shared that the simulation system and the enthusiasm of the staff were what impressed him most on his very first day.
Meanwhile, Tayyibah Naz Ali and Oluwafemi Kayode from Hull York Medical School, together with Charlotte Holland from the University of East Anglia, all praised the University's modern facilities, training equipment, and professional learning environment.
The placement program not only provides these students from the United Kingdom with valuable opportunities to experience medical education and clinical practice in Vietnam, but also strengthens academic collaboration and promotes the exchange of expertise between Phan Chau Trinh University and its international partner institutions, contributing to the development of healthcare professionals equipped to work in a global environment.
