Da Nang traditional medicine hospital welcomes PCTU students for clinical internship

In addition to academic coursework and clinical practice activities within the training program, internships at specialized hospitals provide students with deeper exposure to specific medical fields. Through the Traditional Medicine and Rehabilitation Medicine module, students have the opportunity to learn how traditional medicine approaches are applied in patient examination, treatment, and care at a specialized healthcare facility.
 

On June 22, the Faculty of Medicine of Phan Chau Trinh University (PCTU) officially assigned Group 1, consisting of 19 fifth-year medical students from class 21YK1, to begin their internship at Da Nang Traditional Medicine Hospital in accordance with the module’s training plan.

During the two-week internship period (June 22 – July 5), students will be assigned to six specialized departments, including the General Internal Medicine Department, Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Department, Geriatrics Department, Palliative Care Department, Surgery and Obstetrics-Gynecology Department, and Outpatient Wellness Care Department.

At the reception session, hospital representatives also introduced students to several distinctive facilities that reflect the hospital’s unique identity, including the Medical Temple, Therapeutic Garden, Traditional Medicine Pavilion, and Hyperbaric Oxygen System. These facilities contribute to the specialized treatment environment characteristic of a traditional medicine hospital.

Da Nang Traditional Medicine Hospital is a Grade II specialized healthcare facility with a capacity of 300 inpatient beds. It is also one of the pioneering hospitals in implementing an electronic medical record system and receives a large number of patients for examination and treatment every day. Clinical practice at the hospital enables students to gain firsthand experience in healthcare services and observe the advanced operational model of a major specialized hospital.

Following its educational philosophy, PCTU places strong emphasis on maintaining an appropriate ratio of supervising physicians in each department. Keeping internship groups small at partner hospitals outside the university system allows each student more opportunities for direct patient interaction, close observation of real clinical cases, and personalized guidance from supervising physicians.

On the same day, the Faculty of Medicine of Phan Chau Trinh University also completed the placement of the remaining groups from class 21YK1 for internships at Quang Nam General Hospital, ensuring the synchronized implementation of the training schedule for the cohort.
