Phan Chau Trinh University Participated in the 13th World Congress of the World Society for Pediatric Infectious Diseases (WSPID 2023) – South Africa

From November 14 to 17, 2023, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Huong, Director of the Center for Scientific Research and International Collaboration, and Ms. Hoang Nguyen Thanh Thuy, M.D., Head of the Pediatrics Department at Phan Chau Trinh University, also served as the Head of the Pediatrics Department at Tam Tri Da Nang General Hospital, attended and presented research findings at the 13th World Congress of the World Society for Pediatric Infectious Diseases (WSPID), held in South Africa. The conference brought together over 600 scientists from 80 countries worldwide, covering more than 60 topics related to the prevention, treatment, and control of infectious diseases in children and adolescents globally. Research topics ranged from clinical practices to the use of big data in healthcare development, and analyzing the potential and challenges of applying information technology and artificial intelligence, such as ChatGPT, in the medical field in the new era.

Dr. Nguyen Xuan Huong represented the research group with the preliminary results of the collaborative study between the Phan Chau Trinh University-Tam Tri hospital system and the University of Sydney, Australia, titled "Antibiotic Prescribing Practices, Infectious Prevention and Control Strategies, and Antibiotic Resistance among Neonatal Sepsis in Vietnam: A Multi-Center Study."

Ms. Hoang Nguyen Thanh Thuy presented research findings regarding pneumonia after being infected with influenza in children in Da Nang City with the title "Pneumonia in children with Influenza A in Da Nang City, Viet Nam."

"Participating in this international conference is truly an honor for doctors like me to share the experience of caring for and treating children with pneumonia in Vietnam and exchange knowledge with experts in the field. I had the great opportunity to learn a lot from experts, and I hope that more pediatricians will participate in the next international conference scheduled for 2025," shared Ms. Thuy.
