Vice Rector of Phan Chau Trinh University Appointed President of Da Nang ENT Association for the 2025–2030 Term

On June 14, the Da Nang Otolaryngology (ENT) Association held its 5th Congress for the 2025–2030 term, gathering a large number of members and guests. The congress elected a new 15-member Executive Committee. Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Dang Quoc Chan, MD., PhD., Vice Rector of Phan Chau Trinh University, was entrusted with the role of President of the Da Nang ENT Association for the new term.

The Association currently brings together 140 members, including doctors, specialists, and healthcare professionals in the ENT field. During the 4th term (2019–2024), the Association organized numerous conferences, seminars, and training sessions, making significant contributions to the development of otolaryngology in Da Nang.

Senior Doctor, Specialist Level II Huynh Ba Tan – President of the Association for the 4th Term – chaired the congress.

 

In his closing speech, Dr. Huynh Ba Tan (CC, Specialist Level II) – President of the Association for the 4th term – emphasized:

“In the past term, the Association conducted academic conferences, seminars, and training courses to foster professional development and improve workforce quality. We proactively engaged in enhancing medical services and contributed to transferring knowledge and skills to healthcare facilities and communities. The Association also expanded international cooperation and kept pace with scientific advancements regionally and globally.”

Highlights of the 4th term include:

  • Hosting two scientific workshops annually;

  • Presenting at prestigious international conferences in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, the United States, France, and Australia;

  • Successfully performing 20 cochlear implant surgeries;

  • Completing 95 laryngectomy procedures (total and partial);

  • Providing hearing aids to 125 hearing-impaired children.

Notably, during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Association donated a 13-billion-VND PCR testing system to the Da Nang CDC, demonstrating a strong sense of community responsibility.

In his inaugural address, newly elected President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dang Quoc Chan expressed deep gratitude to previous leaders:

“I am truly fortunate to inherit the valuable legacy built by my predecessors. I would especially like to thank Dr. Huynh Ba Tan for steering the Da Nang ENT Association through many challenges and laying a strong foundation for its growth.”

For the 2025–2030 term, the Association plans to:

  • Intensify regular professional activities;

  • Focus on training high-level ENT doctors proficient in modern surgical techniques and the treatment of complex diseases;

  • Develop a 100-bed ENT Hospital in Cam Le District, expected to be completed by 2026;

  • Launch an official website to connect members, enhance knowledge sharing, and expand cooperation with the World ENT Association, ASEAN ENT Societies, and the Franco-Asian ENT Society.

The 5th Congress concluded in a spirit of unity, commitment, and high hopes. With clear direction and a passionate leadership team, the Da Nang ENT Association is expected to play an increasingly vital role in improving ENT healthcare in Central Vietnam and contributing meaningfully to the overall advancement of the national health sector.
