PCTU Hosts International Expert to Advance Pre-Clinical Simulation Hospital Development

On July 14, Phan Chau Trinh University (PCTU) welcomed Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mary Kay Smith, Director of the Learning and Assessment Center at the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (USA), for a training and consultancy program aimed at sharing international expertise in the development of a Pre-Clinical Simulation Hospital aligned with global standards.

The program commenced with a presentation introducing PCTU, its Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) model, and the University's long-term strategic development. During the visit, the delegation toured the University Library, Medical Museum, Pre-Clinical Simulation Hospital, and Phan Chau Trinh University Hospital of Medicine.

As part of the working session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mary Kay Smith met with faculty members and simulation technicians at the Pre-Clinical Simulation Hospital to gain an overview of its organizational structure and operational model. Discussions also focused on the roles, competencies, and professional requirements of personnel responsible for simulation-based education and assessment.

The training program, taking place from July 15 to 17, includes thematic workshops, professional discussions, and on-site evaluations designed to assess the current status of the Simulation Hospital, exchange international best practices, and identify strategic directions for further development in accordance with international standards.

The visit represents an important milestone in PCTU's international collaboration efforts, providing valuable opportunities to strengthen simulation-based medical education, enhance competency assessment systems, and continue developing the University's Pre-Clinical Simulation Hospital into a modern center for education, research, and assessment that meets international benchmarks.
