Opening of Clinical Microbiology class

This morning, May 13, 2019, at the Center for Genetic Research and Application in Biomedical Medicine (CRAGB) of Phan Chau Trinh University (PCTU), the Opening Ceremony of Clinical Microbiology Training Course coordinated by PCTU took place. Association with clinical microbiology TP. Ho Chi Minh organized together.

Participants of the course come from testing centers, testing departments of major hospitals, universities and colleges in the city. Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Nha Trang, Dong Thap. In particular, there was the participation of practitioners from Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital. HCM City. The course took place from May 13 to May 17, 2019, under the direct guidance of: PhD. BS. Pham Hung Van (President of the HCM City Clinical Microbiology Association, Rector of Phan Chau Trinh University), MSc. Pham Thai Binh (CDC Lecturer in Vietnam, Lecturer at University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City) and PhD. BS. Nguyen Do Ngoc Linh (Training City of Phan Chau Trinh University, Director of CRAGB).

The content of the course is to equip the students with knowledge as well as practical skills so that students can perform a standard clinical microbiological assay of different clinical samples. laboratory, including: blood culture, urine, pus, fluid, stool, sputum, throat swab, genital swab, and even culture of H. pylori isolate from stomach biopsy samples. Through the theory and practical skills of the above specimens, students can practice techniques to identify easy-to-grow bacteria such as Gram [-], Staphylococci to difficult-to-grow bacteria like H. influenzae, S. pneumoniae, Neisseria spp., H. pylori ... Antibiotic mapping techniques such as antibiotic diffusion in agar, finding MIC, and antibiotic combination are also taught in this course so that future participants can help the hospital in developing a program on rational use of antibiotics and controlling antibiotic use. In addition, the course also provides students with ways to effectively build and develop a clinical microbiology laboratory in accordance with biosafety level 2 laboratory standards, as well as a solution to ensure quality. clinical microbiological testing, internal control, external control and verification testing once new equipment, new reagents or staff are wanted.

With the practical knowledge of the training, trainees can apply and implement the clinical microbiological techniques in their hospital system effectively.
