Nearly 20 Students Take Part in the Medical Student Residency Examination

On the morning of August 5, nearly 20 medical students from the 2021–2027 cohort at Phan Chau Trinh University officially took part in the 4th Medical Student Residency Examination.

The examination was organized to select students with a solid foundation of knowledge, well-rounded skills, and a serious professional attitude for admission to the Medical Student Residency Program. Candidates were required to demonstrate their professional competence, ability to apply knowledge, and readiness for advanced hospital-based training.

Students who pass the examination will receive scholarships covering 30% to 60% of their final-year tuition fees, undertake full-time hospital duty rotations according to the program schedule, and benefit from the hospitals’ preferential policies.

Launched by the University in 2023, the Medical Student Residency Program draws on PCTU’s own hospital network to provide final-year students with early exposure to a residency-style clinical environment. Regular presence in the hospital allows students to increase their clinical exposure, sharpen their observational skills, strengthen their professional reasoning, and adapt to the pace of real-world medical practice.

Through learning and training in the hospital setting, students progressively develop their communication skills, ability to collaborate with healthcare professionals, and the professional conduct required of a doctor.

The Medical Student Residency Program is one of the specialized training opportunities available to PCTU medical students. It helps maximize the advantages of the University–Hospital model by closely connecting classroom knowledge with clinical practice.
