Enhancing the application of evidence-based medicine in pediatric respiratory disease treatment.

On May 9, at Phan Chau Trinh University Medical Hospital, a specialized scientific seminar titled “Updates on New Advances in the Management of Lower Respiratory Tract Infections and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDs) in Children” was held, attracting the interest and participation of doctors and healthcare experts from Central Vietnam and across the country through both in-person and online formats.

The seminar was designed with the goal of systematizing the latest recommendations from reputable medical organizations, thereby enhancing early diagnostic capacity, evidence-based treatment approaches (Evidence-based Medicine), and optimizing clinical management processes for complex pediatric respiratory diseases.

Presenting at the seminar were three leading doctors and experts who provided in-depth perspectives bridging theory and clinical practice:

– Associate Professor Dr. Bui Binh Bao Son – Vice President of the Vietnam Respiratory Society, Vice President of the Pediatric Respiratory Society of Vietnam, Head of the Department of Pediatrics – Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy

– Specialist Level II Doctor Vo Huu Hoi – Deputy Director of the Hospital, Head of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit – Da Nang Hospital for Women and Children

– MSc. Resident Doctor Pham Thi Minh Thuy – Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine, Phan Chau Trinh University; Head of the Department of Pediatrics – Phan Chau Trinh University Medical Hospital

The seminar content focused comprehensively on key aspects of pediatric respiratory diseases: from proactive prevention (updating monoclonal antibodies and next-generation vaccines to prevent RSV-related complications), intensive care resuscitation (systematizing diagnostic criteria and lung-protective ventilation strategies in ARDs treatment), to modern clinical management (applying biomarkers for early prediction and developing alternative protocols for refractory Mycoplasma pneumonia). The series of topics directly addressed challenges related to epidemiology and the increasing issue of antibiotic resistance, contributing to the standardization of treatment processes based on the latest scientific evidence.

The program concluded with highly practical knowledge that can be immediately applied to daily clinical treatment. This was also a typical activity within the series of professional update programs regularly organized by the Institute–University system, helping doctors stay updated with the latest medical approaches and advancements.
