As part of the clinical rotation for the Tuberculosis module, on June 9, the Faculty of Medicine – Phan Chau Trinh University officially assigned 34 students from class 20YK1 to begin their internship at Da Nang Lung Hospital.
The internship takes place over two weeks (from June 9 to June 20), with placements in the Internal Medicine I, Internal Medicine II, and Intensive Care Units. This is a valuable opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in Tuberculosis – a key specialty within preventive medicine and the treatment of chronic infectious diseases.
During the handover meeting, representatives from Da Nang Lung Hospital introduced the hospital's internal regulations and emphasized the importance of engaging with patients without fear or stigma – a vital quality for healthcare professionals, especially in the context of persistent public health challenges posed by infectious diseases.
Throughout the internship, students will become familiar with the clinical environment of tuberculosis care; observe diagnostic and treatment procedures; practice basic history taking, physical examination, and monitor patient progress. They will also be trained in effective communication with infectious disease patients, reinforcing the values of respect, safety, and non-discrimination in patient interactions.
The internship program also focuses on strengthening infection control knowledge, especially personal protective techniques and hospital-based transmission prevention. Students will participate in ward rounds, morning briefings, and case presentations – developing proactive learning habits and collaborative teamwork skills.
