Students from the UK, the US, Germany… experience pottery making and release lanterns from boats.

Yesterday afternoon (Feb 28), international students currently undertaking clinical training at Phan Chau Trinh University (PCTU) enjoyed a cultural experience journey together with PCTU students at Thanh Ha Pottery Village and Hoi An Ancient Town.

Exploring Thanh Ha Terracotta Park

The first stop was Thanh Ha Terracotta Park – a unique artistic space inspired by traditional pottery kilns. Two architectural structures symbolizing the “upside-down kiln” and the “upright kiln” stand out with the characteristic reddish-brown color of terracotta, creating a space that is both rustic and impressive.
 

A moment when students observed artisans sharing about the art and process of pottery making.

Here, the students were able to:

•  Learn about the 500-year history of Thanh Ha pottery
•  Admire hundreds of artistic pottery works, especially the “Miniature World” area featuring models of famous world landmarks
•  Observe artisans making pottery by hand
•  Personally shape and decorate their own products, engrave their names, and bring them home as souvenirs

More than just a sightseeing activity, the experience also helped international students gain a deeper understanding of traditional cultural values and the Vietnamese spirit of preserving heritage.

The most memorable moment was when everyone sat together on a boat on the Hoai River, releasing lanterns under the sparkling lights of the ancient town. A gentle and nostalgic Hoi An left many special emotions for students from different countries such as the UK, the US, Germany, France…

A multicultural learning environment at PCTU

In February 2026 alone, PCTU welcomed two groups of international students and is expected to receive nearly 20 more students from the UK, Japan, and Australia in March. At the same time, the university continues to maintain overseas exchange and internship programs for its students, creating a two-way academic connection.

The activities not only help international students integrate more easily but also create opportunities for Vietnamese students to interact, enhance cultural understanding, and broaden their global perspectives.
