It happened during the graduation ceremony for Doctors in England in 1920

It happened during the graduation ceremony for Doctors in England in 1920, attended by the British Prime Minister at that time. During the ceremony, as usual, the dean stood up to share experiences with newly graduated students. This time he told of an incident that happened to him: "It was already past midnight I heard a knock on my door. When I opened it I saw an old woman panicking and she said to me: "Oh doctor, my child is very sick, please save him"!

I rushed to follow her to their house without thinking what would happen. It was a stormy night and very cold, it was pouring rain, driving was very dangerous but I could not worry about myself anymore.

Her home was on the outskirts of London, and after a difficult journey we arrived. She lives in a small room with her son. When I entered the room, I saw the boy lying on a bed in the corner of the room and moaning in pain.

After I examined and prescribed the baby the mother gave me some money. I refused and gently told her that I couldn't accept it because they needed them more than me but I will take care of her until the boy is well. The Dean ended his speech by saying:

"This is the true way of practicing medicine because being a Doctor means being closest to Compassion and one of the professions closest to God"!

As soon as the Chief Doctor finished his speech, the Prime Minister stepped out of his seat and headed to the podium.

He said to the Dean: “Allow me to kiss your hand. I have been looking for you for twenty years now because I am the child you saved in the story just now. Oh, my mother will be happy and resting peacefully. Before dying she fervently asked me to find him to thank his kindness to us when we fell into poverty.

The poor child was once Sir Lloyd George, who became the Prime Minister of England!
