“Understanding and Caring”: Looking back on our journey of giving back to the community

On the afternoon of September 15, as part of the “Understanding and Caring: From Individuals to Community Support” program, the PCTU Hạt Nhân – Volunteer Club organized a talk show of the same name, concluding the series of activities following the sixth “Cooking Together – Caring Together – Sharing Together” volunteer program at the Hope Village Orphanage Center.
 

The program was attended by Dr. Nguyễn Thị Thanh Vân – Head of the Student Affairs Office and Head of the Department of Psychology, along with lecturers and staff from the Student Affairs Office and Department of Psychology, the Executive Board of the PCTU Hạt Nhân – Volunteer Club, as well as students and volunteers who have participated in community activities.

At the talk show, Dr. Nguyễn Thị Thanh Vân shared the topic “Compassion – A Meaningful Piece of the Community Engagement Picture”, helping students gain deeper insight into understanding, empathy, and the role of compassion in building connections with the community.

Following this, the Executive Board of the PCTU Hạt Nhân – Volunteer Club shared practical experiences from organizing volunteer activities, inviting students to reflect on the journey from personal awareness to concrete actions for the community.

The open discussion brought together stories and perspectives from lecturers and students on familiar yet meaningful questions: how to understand ourselves before sharing with others; how to listen with empathy; how to develop a sense of responsibility toward the community through small actions; and how volunteer activities can create lasting value.

Bringing the series of activities to a close, “Understanding and Caring” provided an opportunity for each student to reflect on how they listen, empathize, and take action. These are values that should be nurtured throughout their academic and professional journeys, especially among young people pursuing careers in healthcare.
