From September 29, 2024, to October 4, 2024, the pre-clinical instructors at Phan Chau Trinh University (PCTU) participated in an advanced training course on clinical teaching methods using simulation, guided by leading experts from Alberta Children's Hospital, Canada.
During the training, the experts provided dynamic lectures, combining theory, group work, and live practice at PCTU’s simulation hospital. Through this, the university’s doctors and instructors not only enhanced their teaching strategies but also learned ways to apply effective teaching methods to simulation models. This helps enhance training potential and assists students in developing comprehensive clinical skills and effectively addressing real-world situations.
The simulation-based teaching method is a modern educational approach in medicine. At PCTU, the university has invested in building and operating a five-story simulation hospital with over 50 practice rooms, with a total investment of more than 5 million dollars. These practice rooms are designed to simulate functional rooms in a real hospital, fully equipped with modern medical devices. The patient models realistically recreate clinical scenarios, enabling students to practice and develop their skills safely and effectively.
Alberta Children's Hospital is one of the top hospitals in Canada, providing comprehensive healthcare services for children. The team of experts there is not only highly experienced but also pioneers in applying advanced medical treatment methods and technology. The hospital places particular emphasis on using simulation in training and education, helping improve the skills of healthcare workers, reduce medical errors, enhance teamwork, and improve the quality of healthcare services.
The collaboration between PCTU and Alberta Children's Hospital not only brings extensive knowledge and improved teaching methods to faculty and students but also demonstrates PCTU's commitment to continuous improvement and the enhancement of medical education quality, aiming for comprehensive development in the healthcare sector.
