On July 14, Phan Chau Trinh University (PCTU) welcomed Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mary Kay Smith, Director of the Learning and Assessment Center at the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (USA), for a training and consultancy program focused on sharing international experience in developing a Pre-Clinical Simulation Hospital in accordance with global standards.

The program began with an overview of PCTU, its Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) model, and the University's strategic development orientation. The delegation also toured the Library, Medical Museum, Pre-Clinical Simulation Hospital, and Phan Chau Trinh University Hospital of Medicine.
At the Pre-Clinical Simulation Hospital, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mary Kay Smith met with faculty members and simulation technicians, learned about the organizational structure and professional operations of the center, and exchanged ideas on the roles and competencies required of personnel responsible for operating simulation-based education systems.
From July 15–17, the program will continue with thematic sessions, discussions, and on-site assessments aimed at evaluating the current status of the Simulation Hospital, sharing international best practices, and developing strategic directions for advancing PCTU's Pre-Clinical Simulation Hospital in line with international standards, thereby enhancing the quality of medical education and promoting global integration.
The visit by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mary Kay Smith provides PCTU with a valuable opportunity to gain international insights into simulation-based medical education, further strengthening its educational system, learner competency assessment, and the ongoing development of the Pre-Clinical Simulation Hospital into a modern international center for training, research, and assessment.
