Is it mandatory to achieve an Excellent academic record in high school to apply for a Doctor (Medical) program?

Recently, many candidates and parents have been wondering: If a student does not achieve an Excellent academic rating in high school, can they still apply for admission to the General Medicine or Dentistry (Doctor of Dental Surgery) programs?

In fact, according to the current admission regulations, the requirement of an Excellent academic record for all three years of Grades 10, 11, and 12 ONLY APPLIES when candidates apply through the academic transcript REVIEW method or the Competency Assessment Test (ĐGNL).

Therefore, candidates who do not achieve an Excellent academic rating can STILL BE CONSIDERED for admission to these two programs through the National High School Graduation Examination scores, provided that the total score of the three subjects meets the minimum threshold set by the Ministry of Education and Training.

The subject combinations used for admission to these two programs at Phan Chau Trinh University include:

• A00: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry
• A01: Mathematics, Physics, English
• B00: Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology
• B08: Mathematics, Biology, English
• D07: Mathematics, Chemistry, English

Therefore, candidates should register to take the subjects included in one of the combinations above to obtain suitable admission scores.

For combinations that include English, the English score may be taken from the National High School Graduation Exam or from the converted IELTS score, depending on whichever is higher.
