Update corona epidemic on 13-2: Nearly 15,000 new cases, 242 more deaths

Update corona epidemic on 13-2: Nearly 15,000 new cases, 242 more deaths

At 6:50 a.m. on February 13, Reuters news agency reported that the Hubei Health Commission reported that the province recorded the number of new infections on February 12 as 14,840 and the death toll was 242.

As of 6:30 am February 13 (Vietnam time) at about 7:30 am on the same day as China, the National Health Committee of China and the Health Committee of Hubei province have not released updated data on the inflammatory epidemic. The acute respiratory tract is caused by a new strain of the corona virus (Covid-19) in this country.

These figures are usually released very early on by the Hubei Health Commission. The leadership of this agency has just been replaced on February 11 because of responsibility in the fight against the epidemic.

Numbers released later than usual this morning showed that the number of new infections in the heart of Hubei province was seven times higher than yesterday.

Why are the numbers soaring?

The number of new infections soared to 14,840 in Hubei, of which 13,436 cases were reported in Wuhan City alone, bringing the total number of cases in Hubei to 48,206.

This is remarkable because just hours ago WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus thought the number of new infections had slowed down!

By the end of February 12, the number of people who died of Covid-19 in Hubei province was 242, a sharp increase compared with 97 on February 11 and 108 on February 10.

With the number of new infections and deaths recorded in Hubei province, according to the South China Morning Post as of 7:35 on February 13, there were a total of 60,062 cases in the world and 1,363 deaths (1,361 in mainland China, 1 in the Philippines, and 1 in Hong Kong). Besides, 5,680 people have recovered from the disease

The Health Committee of Hubei Province explained the sharp increase in new cases was due to the implementation of new central direction on diagnosis and treatment to ensure reduction in mortality and increase rates of successful treatment.

Accordingly, from February 13, Hubei province will add the clinically diagnosed cases and confirmed cases of corona virus infected cases into the new cases.

China ranked the local anti-epidemic Covid-19

According to the South China Morning Post, according to a new policy that took effect from February 13, more than 2,000 counties / districts in China will be classified and ranked based on the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic.

The central government explained this in order to redefine anti-epidemic priorities and policies closely with the local situation being spread out.

Prior to this, Zhejiang province classified the districts themselves according to the three colors red, green and yellow.

The districts in green are the areas with the lowest risk, with free mobility.

In yellow districts, the guide can still move, but must go through checkpoints at apartment and neighborhood entrances.

Those colored districts are most at risk, and all residents are required to stay indoors and not go out.

WHO: Be cautious because the number of new infections in China is slowing down

Speaking at a brief press conference in Geneva (Switzerland) on February 12, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus noted that the number of new infections in China is now stable. However, a delay in the spread of Covid-19 should be considered "very cautious".

Mr. Tedros warned that the epidemic could develop "in any other direction", so caution should be exercised and early optimism should be avoided.

At the end of the 2-day meeting on scientific measures to cope with the Covid-19 epidemic, Mr. Tedros welcomed "the positive response of the scientific research community" and commented on the work of the expert group led by WHO. Much progress is being made in China.

The National Health Commission of China on February 12 announced that the number of new infections on February 11 was 2,015 cases, the lowest level in the past two weeks, according to Reuters.

The world's largest mobile show was canceled because of the COVID-19 epidemic

The MWC Barcelona 2020 Global Mobile Show was officially canceled two weeks before the opening due to concerns about the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic.

This is sad news for technology lovers because MWC is considered as the biggest opportunity of the year to experience the world's top mobile products, which have been and are about to be released.

In the morning announcement February 13 (Vietnam time), GSMA CEO John Hoffman said that the GSMA's inability to ensure the health of the event was the main reason why it was canceled.

However, according to international media, the main reason is due to many big names withdrawing from MWC Barcelona because of concerns about translating Covid-19 such as telecommunications equipment suppliers Nokia and Ericsson, smartphone manufacturers. Vivo and LG Electronics or carriers like Vodafone, Deutsche Telekom, AT&T, BT Group, Orange and NTT Docomo.
