They don’t hold scalpels or prescribe medicine, yet every day in the hospital, they witness smiles, tears, and the heartbeat of the medical profession. They understand that for a hospital to function seamlessly, it takes not only skilled healthcare workers but also those who work quietly behind the scenes—organizing and ensuring that everything runs smoothly. They are the “administrators.”
This past September, students of the Hospital Management program at Phan Chau Trinh University (PCTU) had an enriching internship experience at Tam Tri Nha Trang General Hospital—one of the modern training hospitals within the University’s Institute–School system.
During those days, they—those who do not wear white coats—once again realized the meaning of their profession and gained a deeper understanding of the value of the work they are pursuing. Let’s hear some of their heartfelt reflections:
“Our major is quite special—it’s not purely Medicine, nor is it Economics. We learn how to operate a hospital so that every activity—from administration and human resources to patient care—runs smoothly, efficiently, and with compassion.
Over the past three years, we haven’t just stayed in classrooms but also gone on field trips to hospitals in our University system. Each internship is a vivid lesson, helping me understand more deeply the meaning of ‘management’ in a medical environment.
I’ve realized that sometimes, you don’t need to hold a scalpel or a stethoscope to bring comfort to patients—you can do so by organizing, operating, and creating a truly effective healthcare environment.” Ý Như – Final-year student, Hospital Management
“My first impression when visiting hospitals in the system—and more recently during my four-week internship at Tam Tri Nha Trang Hospital—was that every hospital had such a clean, modern, and positive atmosphere.
There, we were warmly guided by mentors and staff, and we got to experience processes such as patient admission, customer service, and internal management.
Everything we learned in class—from communication skills and human resource management to healthcare operations—was applied in real-life settings.
I realized that I could work in the healthcare environment without ever touching a scalpel or seeing blood—as long as I have perseverance and a true spirit of service. That’s the beauty of the profession I’ve chosen.” Quỳnh Hương – Hospital Management student
“If someone asked me what I remember most from my university life, I would immediately say: the internship days at the hospital—where knowledge became the breath of the profession.
Beyond theoretical lessons, the opportunity to intern at many hospitals helped me see more clearly the shape of the career I am pursuing.
It’s the job of those who stand behind the surgical lights—quietly organizing and connecting to ensure that every process runs smoothly.
It’s a profession that allows doctors to focus on healing and helps patients feel cared for and respected.
Every day at the hospital was a day of growth. I learned professionalism, dedication, and discipline—things no textbook can ever fully teach. That’s when I knew that Hospital Management is not just a choice, but a calling.” Diệu Thùy – Hospital Management student, PCTU
From these sincere reflections, it’s clear that Hospital Management is a field that carries both the spirit of healthcare and the rhythm of modern administration—a place where students are trained to become healthcare managers who understand the profession, the people, and the system. If doctors are the heart that saves lives, then hospital administrators—though not wearing white coats—are the mind that drives the entire healthcare system, ensuring that every decision, process, and patient experience operates efficiently and compassionately.
As an interdisciplinary and highly applied field, PCTU students gain knowledge in health economics, human resource management, healthcare marketing, medical law, and quality management, while developing modern management skills in the era of digital transformation and global healthcare integration. With the advantage of the Institute–School model, PCTU students not only learn in classrooms but also regularly participate in internships at hospitals—turning every lesson into real-world experience.
If you love the healthcare environment and wish to dedicate yourself to improving it—not by treating patients, but by organizing, leading, and innovating—then the Hospital Management program at Phan Chau Trinh University is the journey meant for you.
