According to the VNA, at the meeting, representatives of CDC and Office of Global Affairs, Asia-Pacific Office of the US Department of Health and Human Services assessed the efforts of the Government of Vietnam in COVID-19 prevention has achieved positive results, monitoring, isolation and treatment have been implemented synchronously.
Based on the assessment of the actual situation, CDC decided to remove Vietnam from the list of destinations capable of spreading the SARS-CoV-2 virus to the community.
Before that, CDC has included in this list 5 countries / regions, including: Vietnam, Iran, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.
However, according to the update on CDC's website, at 7:25 am on February 28 (Vietnam time), Vietnam was no longer on this list after the latest decision of the CDC.
The representative of the CDC said that the agency is currently planning to visit Vietnam in the second half of March 2020 to strengthen health cooperation activities between the two countries and promote the establishment of the regional office of CDC in Vietnam. Male.
The US Department of Health and Human Services is also ready to consider providing additional support to Vietnam with disease prevention equipment.
Regarding regional cooperation, the US side wishes to strengthen exchange activities and ASEAN-US cooperation on epidemic prevention. This will also be one of the contents of interest at the ASEAN-US Summit scheduled to take place on March 14 in Las Vegas, USA.
Recently, besides the government, many US businesses have also paid attention to promoting medical cooperation with Vietnam. According to the US - ASEAN Business Council (USABC), in a delegation of more than 40 US businesses going to Vietnam from March 3 to March 6, there will be about 20 businesses specializing in healthcare and pharmaceuticals to seek and promote medical cooperation association with Vietnam.
