The National Health Commission of China today announced that the number of infections across mainland China increased by 3,887, bringing the total to 28,211. In addition to the 70 deaths in Hubei, three more were killed in other Chinese provinces. Worldwide, new infections have been reported in Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, South Korea, Australia, the US and Malaysia.
The epidemic of acute nCoV pneumonia started in Wuhan city, capital of Hubei province, from December 2019, spread to 31 provinces and cities of China and 26 countries and territories. Two deaths outside mainland China were a Wuhan man in the Philippines and a man in Hong Kong.
Many countries, including the US, UK, France, Australia, Japan and South Korea, have evacuated citizens from Wuhan, restricting entry to Chinese visitors or those who recently visited mainland China. Hong Kong since February 8 quarantined all visitors from mainland China for 14 days.
