Nearly 504,000 people died from nCoV worldwide

The world recorded more than 10.2 million cases and nearly 504,000 deaths due to nCoV, the epidemic in the Americas continues to be complicated.

213 countries and territories recorded 10,229,030 cases and 503,985 deaths caused by nCoV, an increase of 162,812 and 3,440 respectively over the past 24 hours. 5,546,482 people have recovered.

The United States, the world's largest epidemic region, reported 2,632,442 cases and 128,412 deaths, an increase of 38,801 and 275 cases in 24 hours, respectively.

Anthony Fauci, the White House's leading epidemiologist, admitted on June 26 that the current US testing strategy still misses out asymptomatic cases in the community. Dr. Fauci said officials could use the pooled test method, similar to the Chinese city of Wuhan.

Brazil, the world's second-largest epidemic region, reported an additional 28,202 cases and 519 deaths, bringing the total to 1,344,143 and 57,622 respectively. Experts are concerned that the actual number of deaths from nCoV in Brazil may be higher than reported by the government.

Despite the continued rise of new nCoV infections and deaths, many Brazilian states are pushing for plans to reopen their economies after months of imposing blockades. However, many experts warn the country is loosening restrictions to prevent Covid-19 too soon.

Many other Latin American countries are also struggling with the pandemic. Chile is the world's eighth largest epidemic region with 271,982 cases and 5,509 deaths, an increase of 4,216 and 162 respectively over the previous day. Only shops selling basic necessities were allowed, schools, restaurants and bars remained closed.

Mexico ranked 11th with 2,802 cases and 26,381 deaths after recording more 4,410 and 602 cases, respectively. Mexico City was forced to postpone plans to reopen the economy, while health officials warned the number of at-risk infections continued to rise as curve flattening was slowing.

Russia, the third largest epidemic region in the world, recorded an additional 104 deaths, bringing the total number of deaths to 9,073. Cases increased by 6,791, to 634,437, marking the third consecutive day that the number of cases in Russia was below 7,000.

The government said that even though the epidemic has cooled down, it is still preparing a plan to deal with the scenario of a new wave of infections flaring up in the fall.

He reported an additional 901 cases and 36 deaths, bringing the total to 311,151 and 43,550, respectively. British officials have reduced the Covid-19 warning from "a pandemic with a high risk of infection or an exponential increase" to "an epidemic spreading".

However, in the past week, authorities in many coastal areas have raised warnings when thousands of people flooded the beaches due to hot weather. As pubs remain closed, many flock to parks and beaches to hang out with friends, in many cases ignoring the authorities' recommendation to keep a minimum distance of 2 meters.

Spain recorded an additional 301 cases and two deaths, bringing the total to 295,850 and 28,343, respectively. Spain ended the emergency on June 21, allowing people from the countries of the European Union (EU) and the Schengen region to enter without a two-week quarantine.

Italy recorded an additional 174 infections and 22 deaths, bringing the total to 240,310 and 34,738, respectively. Shops, restaurants and bars were opened, and public transport was back on, but schools remained closed. The Italians are free to move around the country.

Germany reported an additional 175 cases, bringing the total number of infected people to 194,864, the number of deaths to 9,029, an increase of three cases compared to yesterday. Germany opened its borders with EU countries from June 15 and will loosen community isolation measures after June 29.

German health officials are dealing with a new outbreak at the Rheda-Wiedenbruck meat processing plant in Gueterloh district, North Rhine-Westphalia state. The state re-imposed a blockade on Guetersloh and the neighboring town of Warendorf.

In the Middle East, Iran recorded an additional 2,489 cases, bringing the total to 222,669, of which 9,029 died, up three from the previous day.

Iran has allowed shops, restaurants, bars and public transport to operate, and some schools remain closed. Authorities are considering enforcing the mandatory wearing of masks in public.

Saudi Arabia recorded an additional 3,989 cases and 40 deaths, bringing the total to 182,493 and 1,551, respectively. The country started ending the national curfew for nCoV from June 21, but religious pilgrimages and gathering of more than 50 people are still restricted.

India is the largest epidemic region in Asia and the fourth largest in the world with 549,197 cases, and 16,487 deaths, up 19,620 and 384 respectively. Although the number of new infections is still increasing daily, India has allowed the shop. , restaurants, bars reopened, and schools in high-risk areas were closed until June 30.

In Southeast Asia, Indonesia is the region's largest epidemic with 54,010 cases, an increase of 1,198 cases compared to yesterday, of which 2,754 died, an increase of 34 cases. The school is closed until July 13, the restaurant bar is closed, only the shops selling essential goods are reopened.

Singapore recorded 43,459 cases, up 213, of which 26 people died. The cases in Singapore were mainly migrant workers living in dormitories. Singapore is removing restrictions in stages.

Since the beginning of June, the schools are back online. Gyms, parks, beaches and restaurants may now reopen but religious events, bars, theaters and large-scale events are not yet allowed.

Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and East Timor are the countries in the region that have not yet reported CoV deaths.
