Phan Chau Trinh University (PCTU) proudly introduces Vietnam's first preclinical skills simulation hospital. This modern facility serves as an advanced training foundation for healthcare students, offering exceptional learning and practice opportunities.
A simulation hospital is a medical facility designed to replicate real hospital environments and procedures. Its primary goal is to provide medical students, doctors, and healthcare workers with opportunities to practice and enhance their skills in a safe setting without putting real patients at risk.
Simulation hospitals typically employ technologies like virtual patients, robots, 3D models, and scenario simulations to help learners tackle complex medical situations. This approach improves decision-making, practical skills, and communication in clinical environments.

PCTU’s Simulation Hospital is housed in a 5-story building with nearly 70 functional rooms designed and operated like a real hospital. It includes:
All medical equipment is state-of-the-art, including X-ray machines, CT scanners, endoscopy systems for gastrointestinal and ENT procedures, surgical equipment, and a centralized oxygen system.
The highlight of the Simulation Hospital is its "patients"—life-sized models equipped with advanced technology to simulate clinical symptoms realistically. These models allow students to practice a wide range of scenarios, from simple to complex cases, including rare diseases. Students can use these models to practice listening to heart, lung, and abdominal sounds, examine the fundus, or experience complex cases like febrile seizures, postpartum hemorrhage, or umbilical cord prolapse.
In addition to patient models, the hospital also utilizes "standardized patients" who are trained individuals providing realistic clinical and communication scenarios for students.
Each practice room is equipped with multimedia systems to facilitate interaction and record activities for review and skill assessment by both students and instructors.

In medical education, particularly for healthcare fields, hospital internships are crucial for skill development.
However, direct patient exposure in hospitals is challenging, especially when performing clinical procedures. Without sufficient practice, even supervised students may lack the confidence to execute procedures during hospital rotations.
PCTU’s Simulation Hospital bridges this gap, ensuring students are confident and capable of performing techniques without hesitation. At the Simulation Hospital, students practice communication, history-taking, and examination methods rigorously until they are proficient before transitioning to clinical environments.
This hands-on approach enables PCTU students to begin hospital rotations as early as their first year, leveraging the university’s dedicated hospital to excel in their training. As Dr. Nguyen Huu Tung, Chairman of the University Council, stated in Tuoi Tre Online: "To enhance quality, we must invest in education." Over the past year, PCTU has significantly invested in infrastructure and preclinical-to-clinical training systems to provide the best learning environment and foster holistic student development.
