MODY (Maturity Onset Diabetes of the Young) is a group of monogenic inherited diabetes disorders that plays an important role in early diagnosis, prognosis, and the selection of appropriate treatment strategies. However, in Vietnam, particularly in the Central region, data on the frequency of gene mutations associated with MODY remains limited.

Based on this practical context, the research project “Investigation of the Frequency of Selected Single-Gene Mutations in MODY Types 1, 2, 3, 5, and 9 Across Selected Hospitals in Central Vietnam,” conducted by Dr. Nguyen Anh Thu, aims to assess the prevalence of common gene mutations in patients suspected of having MODY.
This study not only contributes to enriching the regional genetic database for Central Vietnam, but also supports more effective differential diagnosis between MODY and other forms of diabetes. The findings are expected to lay the groundwork for the application of personalized medicine in diabetes treatment in Vietnam.
